6 Ways for Delray Beach Seniors to Celebrate Fall

Are you ready for the fall season? Autumn in Florida may not be the same as elsewhere around the country, but that does not mean you can’t celebrate the things that make it such a special time of year. We are certainly ready to celebrate fall at Harbour’s Edge.

Finding the Beauty in the Florida Fall

As a Florida resident, you know that fall in the Sunshine State is not the same as fall in the northern United States. While the states farther north notice temperatures begin to cool in mid to late September, Floridians know not to expect morning temperatures to drop under 70 degrees regularly until October. Once the evenings become cool and crisp, that is when Florida’s fall colors begin to appear in the leaves, though the vividness of those colors varies from year to year. But make no mistake, hues of yellow, orange and red are often on display.

Fall Activities Around Delray Beach

If you’re looking for events and activities celebrating the fall season, Delray Beach is the place to be. The Delray Beach Historical Society hosts a Fall Fest each year, complete with a bake sale, family-friendly games and crafts, a pumpkin patch and even an outdoor movie. For those who are more interested in a quiet evening out and about, take a stroll down the streets of Downtown Delray Beach and explore the vibrant art scene during the First Friday Art Walk on Oct. 1.

Halloween is afforded an entire month of festivities celebrating the spooky holiday, but perhaps the most unique Halloween offering in Delray Beach is the annual Witches of Delray Witches Ride. The annual charity bike ride, which takes place on the last Saturday in October, benefits the Achievement Centers for Children and Families. Participants are invited to dress up in their best witch attire before using their bike as a broom for the event.

Find Fall Fun at Home

You don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to celebrate the fall season. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, that’s as good an excuse as any to bake a pumpkin pie. You’re not limited to pumpkin pies, either. Feel free to bake any number of tasty treats and share them with friends and family, or even invite them to bake the treats with you. Baking is better with company!

Florida is no stranger to football, and for many the fall season is synonymous with the sport. Whether you are rooting for the defending Super Bowl champs on Sundays or cheering for the Gators, Seminoles or Hurricanes on Saturdays, football is a chance to gather with friends. You may even be tempted to throw the football around in the yard.

You can also make the inside of your home match the outside. Get into the fall spirit with festive decorations around the house, from decorative fall leaves and throw pillows of autumnal colors to a wreath on the door and a new welcome mat out front. Basking in the warm vibes of the fall season can bring a new energy both into your home and into your life.
